This is not an official answer, but there is always ongoing development. You can always get the current - not yet release developing version of Dia. You can then report on issues to the developers, which can be a good thing, but since it is not released you have to accept that in some ways it may

There is clipboard function for the entities within dia. I copy and paste groups all the time. In windows you can always use Ctrl-Print screen and edit the bitmap in some other program. I regularly make screen dumps for exporting. Seems like I used to export as jpeg and ramp up the dpi to get g
