Dia works beautifully for most of my drawing needs.
But I could not figure out how to paint/draw some texture
patterns (e.g., stripes, dotted regions, etc.) for a geometric
object such as circles and ellipses.
Of course, I found how to color paint inside of those objects
but I couldn't find

my search at the gnome CVS for the 'latest bleeding edge version'
of dia found version 0.86 with last update 2001-03-08
(http://www.gnome.org/project/showfiles.php?group_id=70).
As for the ximian rpm distributions, seemed to lag behind from Mandra
from the INSTALL:

I am using Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) and am trying to
install dia. It is not present in fink, so I installed
gtk+ in fink, and then downloaded the dia source code,
and typed
./configure --prefix=/sw/usr/
it produced an error about unicode:

were created using Mayura Draw and some weird problems when created using
Sodipodi (only when I create rectangles using Sodipodi, do I see a rectangle in
