How do I stop Dia making ~ files?

Hi, I am using Dia 0.96.1 and its great, except for the fact that it clutters up directories with .dia~ files. I looked all through the preferences and tried googling, but I could not find a way to disable this "functionality". Is there a way to disable it? Thanks, Erin _

how does one stop clipping when exporting to a png?
