RH7.2 comes with libxml-1.8.14-2 and libxml-devel-1.8.14-2 which are too
old. If you downloaded libxml-1.8.15-ximian.2, try downloading the
starting to get frustrated, kinda feel like i'm butting my head against
the wall.
does anyoneknow where i can find libxml1 and it's devel. packages? i
already have libxml2 installed and i cannot for the life of me find
libxml1 anywhere.

i do not have libxml1 (binary or -devel packages) that i know of. i read
through the NEWS file but that doesn't say much about installation
problems (unless i missed something -which happens from time to time).
there were no errors from tunning ./configure

Looked at bugzilla briefly yesterday but it wasn't clear if it was actively
being utilized.
I'll confirm the arrow key bug - kinda. The arrow keys actually do move
you, but the cursor doesn't move. (e.g. - type "" into a text object,
back arrow twice, type "b" and you end up with "aabaa" alth
