It's just the same old mess that I didn't recognize because of the /usr/pkg/
rather than the familiar /usr/local/ slightly complicated by a version that
got installed someplace on the search

Python on NetBSD doesn't search /usr/local/lib/
It looks in /usr/pkg/...
