Been a while, but I think you're looking for:
mgar makepatch
You still need to add it to the makefile, but it'll capture the changes you
make after extracting source and applying existing patches.

Hi!
freshen up my memory please.
Is there a good way to "hack" in the sources until something compiles
and then generate a patch directly in the "file" section with the
corrent level number=
I think to remember something, but maybe I mix things up
