Hi folks,
We want to unretire efitools because it's the only software that
allows dealing with detached signatures for authvars. It was
retired because of openssl engine support is deprecated. We prepared
a build with support for engines removed, hence the idea to unretire
the package.

Apparently H264 patents expire on August this year (the most relevant

Unfortunately, in the US, there are claimed patents affecting parts of
H.264 who's expirations are as far out as late 2030. It's not clear
which versions/profiles of H.264 are affected by which patents, so not
sure when parts of H.264 could potentially freed up.

SeaBIOS 1.17 seems to break virtio devices in Linux VMs:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2372329
If your Linux VMs suddenly appear to have no disks, this may be why.
Downgrading to SeaBIOS 1.16 (or using UEFI for VMs) is the workaround.
