Hello all!
Sorry that I come a bit later to the party here, but I am the one who wrote
KIP-683 [1] for recursive support (just simply looping through all child
non-primitive structures for the same matching name(s)) which is a slightly
different way to try and solve a similar requirement -- unfort

ard SMTs to be able to support "real world" scenarios,
but some of these limitations cause them to fall a bit short today.
Hope this is helpful at least to spark other ideas anyway!
Have a nice (rest of the) weekend!

ges. But it mostly seemed like there is
an added feature in Cast to convert from binary to base64 string, which
should be relatively simple to merge into my code if this is a direction
that people would agree to go for?
Any thoughts?

for both transforms and it would be
good to have a little bit of input if anyone thinks this is a bad idea or
sees some problem that I have not discovered already myself.
Any questions or feedback, please feel free to share!

I would appreciate any kind of discussion to make improvements and it would
be great to see changes like this being pushed up.
Thanks for now!

like permission to create a new KIP so that I can submit two new
proposals (KAFKA-10640 and KAFKA-10627).
Thank you!
Best regards,

Joshua Grisham created KAFKA-10640:
--
Summary: Connect Cast and ReplaceField transforms only support
top-level fields and Cast does not support complex types.
Key: KAFKA-10640
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira
Joshua Grisham created KAFKA-10627:
--
Summary: Connect TimestampConverter transform does not support
multiple formats for the same field and only allows one field to be transformed
at a time
Key: KAFKA-10627
