I haven't replied yet because I've been giving this some thought over the last few days. OpenInx makes a good point that the same rationale for publishing Flink and Spark runtime Jars applies to vendor bundles. In the end, I still think that it isn't a good idea to maintain the vendor runtime Jars

I would generally echo what Ryan and Jack are saying in that it's important to have runtime bundles for complicated scenarios like the spark/flink runtime. Otherwise it would be prohibitively hard to get dependencies right and would make it very difficult to use iceberg overall. As for the vendor
