Just FYI, Apache JIRA has a default priority of 'Major' when a new issue/bug is created. It kind of makes sense because JIRA is being safe by selecting the middle value from the list: Blocker > Critical > Major > Minor > Trivial It is easy to not pause and give the priority a thought when filing
