I have built something like an avatar creator (swc library) where I put various
instances of fxg-files (body parts) in a flex sprite and draw (BitmapData.)) it
to a bitmap...
without seeing any error appearing...
Sometimes I get a part of the "Splash Screen Image" rendered into this image.

Does anyone of you knows if adobe is going to fix this issue in Air 3.9x
or Air 4.X or is something planned for a an upcoming Flex SDK?
The issue doesn't seem to be high priority for Adobe (but many
developers) ...

Turning of cacheAsBitmap
-> Scrolling got much slower (in the renderer there is nothing
changing/animating)
Am I right when I think all the fxg files are cached and using bitmap
images won't have any advantage (at least when cachingAsBitmap)?
Turning of usage of virtual layout
-> Can't see any
Image(iconDisplay).smooth = true;
could be costly. Also, try disabling cacheAsBitmap.
But you won't know unless you measure the performance. I had some code for
testing an item renderer. I'll see if I can dig it up.

About the itemRenderer-Performance-Issues...
I've written an itemRenderer based no IconItemRenderer with some texts
and a lot of (fxg) images... and the scrolling is horrible...
Maybe someone can tell me what's wrong with my itemRenderer as all my
other renderers performe quite good...
