I can only say, that I fully agree with Romain here.
For example, we are shading dbcp2 with jakarta.* relocations in TomEE 9
(targeting EE9.1 / jakarta.*). I don't think, that it is a good thing to let
the users fork/relocate or abandon dbcp2 in order to be able to use the
jakarta.* namespace.
I feel like we're going around in circles. Do you not agree my the
path I previously outlined?

@gary: you likely need to refine your plan to make it a plan and not a
discussion proposal, ie put some date. If you want to release dbcp2 this
year and move to dbcp3 in january for a 1.0.0 (or whatever version) in
early february I guess it works for everyone. If it is about waiting 1-2
