Apologies for being late to the discussion but I was busy at Data & AI
summit last week. I am supportive of this initiative even though I have not
been following this very closely.
Thank you Andrew and Raphael for driving this innovation.

datafusion-python was then removed from the repository in January 2022 [2]

With multiple contributors adding new features to sqlparser and arrow-rs
(often breaking changes), it is becoming more challenging to have
corresponding draft DataFusion PRs that pick up the latest version of the
dependency because this pulls in many breaking changes unrelated to the
specific PR.

I have created a tracking issue [1] to coordinate the release. If there are
PRs that you feel are important to get into this release, we can discuss in

I hit an error during release verification:

thread 'ipc::reader::tests::test_arrow_single_float_row' panicked at
'called `Result::unwrap()` on an `Err` value: Os { code: 2, kind: NotFound,

I tried this again, but this time ran the verify script from the repo

Hi,
The DataFusion community has built an integration between DataFusion and
Substrait under the datafusion-contrib GitHub organization [1].
The project is now receiving regular contributions from NVIDIA (who are
using it internally for a research project), and now GreptimeDB have

We ran into an issue when trying to upgrade Ballista to use DataFusion
16.0.0, so I am planning on making a patch release to resolve this.
I have created a maint-16.x branch and cherry-picked the fix for the
Ballista issue.
If there are other bug fixes that should be included in the patch release
Hi,
If any Arrow PMC members are interested in being added as maintainers to
the PyPi or Conda repositories for the DataFusion Python bindings, please
let me know on the respective issue below.

The default branch in https://github.com/apache/arrow-ballista is also now
