He was trying to nicely say he knows way more than you, and your ideas will
result in a low performance scheme no one will use in production ai/machine
learning.

I think Jorge’s opinion has is that of an expert and him being humble is just
being tactful. Probably listen to Jorge on performance and architecture, even
over Wes as he’s contributed more than anyone else and know the bleeding edge
of low level performance stuff more than anyone.

Why don’t we gift the whole arrow project to Jorge if he’s the one pushing the
tech forward? I’d say the governance would be better

Jorge did such a great job making THE new and better columnar in mem format.
Arrow 2 is just better and the future, but it should stay under Jorge’s clearly
more capable hands. We should all be thanking him. I had a such a a good belly
laugh at ‘is there a possibility of donating’. Pleaser do
great idea!

Wes,
I think we understand your administrative prerogative. I think in both
Julia and Rust cases, you just have engineers that want to go fast and do
very needed, deep changes for security and performance. I think, and this
is just my wild guess, that to go through the Apahce process (because it

Hi Andy,
Is Ballista or the Rust meeting still looking for sponsors? Please send me
some details as I'm still in the trying to get C level buy in, but I think
it's moving along :)
I'd like to do something similar to TwoSigmas BeakerX or Flint at my work,
while especially focusing on low level op
This is great, thanks for this!

We are doing a lot in rust and arrow this year and super excited you got
this started Andy!
