I can confirm this on Ubuntu MATE 14.04 with gparted like the user
reported, and add to that that sometimes the freeze takes over the whole
desktop . It freezes more like 20-25 seconds.

MATE 14.04: gksudo freezes and is slow

This also occurs when right-clicking a folder to "Open as
Administrator", from caja 1.8.2. For this reason I have added "caja" as
an affected package.
The problem is shown to occur from the command line whenever I see the
file gksu.lock. If I run "gksudo --disable-grab caja" then that file is

issue on https://errors.ubuntu.com. Then again, I'm not sure that
opening a program as administrator is all that common for most users, so

This is the patch I put together for Ubuntu MATE 15.04, xdg-open, and it
seems to take care of the issue as stated in the title. Am unsure where
else xdg-open is used but it has been tested with Virtualbox and
Transmission. Would like advice on how to test it more properly to
determine if it can

It is not happening after installation, on Ubuntu MATE, on either i386
or 64-bit.
As @Elfy stated, deleting a folder works as expected in a live session,
and a folder that contains a file or files also works as expected.
