The graphical splash screen is disabled on NVIDIA's proprietry drivers,
since they won't work properly with framebuffers and will cause
instability. I believe this will all be fixed as part of their wayland
support which will include a KMS layer, but that is a ways off and

patches got broken by gtk 3.8 transition from egglist box to Gtk list
box, and were left to rot... its nots used by any of the unity stack and

The incorrect string comes from a shared API in gnome-desktop3 you can't just
go changing that, and really that should be fixed.

This is seemingly caused by the virtualbox drivers not yet having
support to non-root Xorg sessions.
The workaround for now is to install xserver-xorg-legacy and/or
virtualbox-guest-dkms

Can anyone still affected by this please attach the output of
`journalctl`. Saying that your system boots to a blank screen is not
particularly helpful, there there could be numerous reasons causing
that, such as hardware specific driver bugs, dependency issues etc.
The recommended way to run GNOM
It is not specifically a vbox bug, it appears it would affect any system
that uses a UMS kernel driver and VESA. In that case you need xserver-
xorg-legacy, but if you put that on the images, you turn off rootless
Xorg for everyone.

Oli, if you are using the proprietry drivers, then yes you will need
xserver-xorg-legacy, though this should get pulled in automatically when
you install/update the drivers (so long as you are using the version
from the ubuntu archives)

- You seem to have broken the frame/window size of the keyboard panel, this
should always remain the same as all other panels.

I came to report this bug but found it is already here.
I am on linux (Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS) and am using Thunderbird 102.2.2,
although this was also present in version 91 (I only upgraded recently).
I have Thunderbird set to use the system PDF application (in this case
Evince) for reading PDF files
