I have no clue when exactly it started (probably before image 290), but
since a while i experience random issues where the browser suddenly
doesnt find websites anymore ... digging deeper i can see that the

trying to use phablet-flash in raring to flash a phone or tablet (or
when just running adb shell or adb root from commandline) causes a
constant reconnect loop of an attached mtp device. it seems adb and gvfs
try concurrently to establish a connection which results in permanen
so analyzing this a bit deeper, it actually does not have anything to do
with adb but with the fact that gvfs assumes that if an USB device
registers with:

Ubuntu Touch and in android (we use the same kernel so the device
identifies itself the same way). Unlike android Ubuntu Touch doesn't

policyKit does not involve sudo in any way, it uses systemd-logind from
the session to elevate privileges. if you are marked as admin in the
policyKit setup you will indeed be able to do admin things no matter
what is written in sudoers ;)

snapd's userd that
well, try something thats not on localhost, i know that i cant resolve
anything in my LAN that uses mdns (note that this will also affect
printing i guess)

after a comment from jamesh in the forum discussion i found that
installing nscd from universe works around the issue, but this does not
change the fact that it is a regression of an ubuntu default feature, so
there still needs to be some solution (snapd dependency on nscd and
moving nscd back into
freecad doesnt use any GL to draw the UI, you will simply not have full
functionality (rendering etc) but the app will run

please note that this rule will also likely be used inside the initrd to
set up the console for encyption key input and there will be no systemd
around ... you probably want to rather handle it conditionally so it is
still available when creating an initrd ...
