Public bug reported:
In Saucy Salamander, gdm will not start if 3d acceleration is not
available. This throws an error to /var/log/gdm/:0-greeter.log
gnome-session-is-accelerated: No composite extension.
gnome-session-check-accelerated: Helper exited with code 256
gnome-session-is-accelerated: N
Have marked as critical as this makes saucy completely unusable as a
desktop environment on non-3d machines.

Howard, It's having the usernames come from ldap, rather than the local
system, that causes policykit to have weird stuff happen, that causes
screen locking. It's all interconnected :)
The bug isn't in the parts individually, but in the integration of them
all.
** No longer affects: openldap

Switching to libpam-ldapd and nslcd have fixed this issue. I've marked
this as an issue against libpam-ldap.
