I think it's a different bug,
the problem is still here for me (quantal) even with file-roller
3.6.1.1-0ubuntu1.1
for me, file-roller always crash when trying to compress / uncompress / modify
archive over
I have the same problem since Ubuntu 13.04 and still here in Ubuntu
14.04.
It's a big issue for me since I planned to deploy Ubuntu 14.04 in
enterprise.
Another thing, I can't create archive on sftp share too but in this case
file-roller simply crash.

On my system the bug was caused by a PPD encoded in Windows-1252 instead of
UTF-8.
After re-encoding the file, everything was fine !
It would be cool to have an error message like "Unable to read PPD file,
please check the file".

For example I can't type û in some app , it makes ^u
