The brightness when returning from screensaver is at minimum
(xbrightness shows level 0), brightness keys work and so does
xbrightness -set 100.
Brightness control worked fine for me on Natty.

On 18.10 with GNOME session and default Adwaita icon theme, desktop apps
installed via snap, like gnome-calculator, gnome-system-monitor, ... all
have the default executable icon (diamond with gears), instead of their
own icons.

(yakkety).
The issue is fixed by the Chromium 54 build in the ~canonical-chromium-
builds PPA.

FWIW even if it fixes the issue, the Chromium 54 build on that PPA seems
quite unstable for me, many tabs crash while loading the page.

On Yakkety, the updated Chromium 55 package doesn't play back H264
videos anymore.
For example, using this test page:
http://www.quirksmode.org/html5/tests/video.html the H264/MP4 video
shows the player disabled, while WebM and Ogg/Theora work fine.
