If I boot the laptop on battery then attach a mains supply the popping
usually stops, but not always. If I remove and then re-add the mains
supply then it does stop.

I was running different Nvidia graphic cards with different proprietary
Nvidia drivers (see my previous post).
Changed the Nvidia graphic card to an old HD 5670 Radeon AMD and loaded
the catalyst drivers. *Until now no more system hangups has appeared.*

I'm using an USB headset..
Every time I click on the headset buttons Unity looses keyboard.. If I
switch to tty then go back to tty7 my keyboard works again..

Still facing issue in Ubuntu 13.10; RB 2.99.1
Crossfade seems to solve the issue. If you don't want to use crossfade
(due to how toggle pause/play behaves, or for other reasons), you can
try the following workaround. It works for me.
1. Extract `rhythmboxfix.plugin` and `rhythmboxfix.py` from the

@Brian: is there a way to query e.u.c for the libsoup version of the
recent 13.10 reports (the bug is reported against gvfs so the table of
versions is not useful to determine if we still get reports with the new
libsoup library)
