Yes, the problem still exists and has some very weird properties.
Using the sftp cli I get speeds up to 800kb/s which is the max due to
overhead and others services that eat up upload speed.
Using nautilus gvfs, I get under the same conditions 250 - 350 kb/s.

character, multiplied by 5 characters). This would explain why it's
working when you use that option. In order to be completely sure that
it's not a 40 bit key, would you please re-create your server
environment with a WEP-128
Pulseaudio is run as the logged in user. Pulse itself will refuse to
start as root if system mode is not enabled in the config. I think this
is happening post pulse start, although I have no idea what the problem
could be, and I haven't experienced this problem myself.

sudo dpkg --force-depends --purge chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra
sudo dpkg --force-depends --purge chromium-browser
The first command should give a warning about chromium-browser depending
on chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra, but should proceed to remove chromium-
codecs-
