While gema's issue (which was dealing with raw sysfs read data) is gone
with this patch, I suspect your issue might well be related to upower.
Did you try with the second patch as well? The "Provide energy
measurement" ? A quick skim through the relevant upower code would
indicate that it does try

upower issues, as it should result in upower using a different method to
calculate the remaining time, etc.

As a side note: with the 13.2 beta driver the integrated GPU too works fine
without having to apply the patch for direct rendering.

I have this problem too, but the problem isn't really in gimp, it's in
gphoto2 (or possibly deeper, in the USB stack). This will get you some
diagnostics:
gphoto2 --debug --debug-logfile=gphoto.log -L
You may need to install gphoto2 first:
sudo apt-get install gphoto2

@Ritesh: looking again to that issue and your patch, they are several
problems
* you are changing "do-nothing" to do something, the main reason that
this setting was added is that the xrandr calls can be slow on some
drivers (e.g taking over a second), your patch will add several seconds
delay on
I don't think this can be a Terminator bug, we aren't doing anything special
when we are maximised. It might be worth checking your terminator preferences
to see what the background setting is - perhaps it's set to be transparent and
that is placing a high burden on your X server?
