Synaptic and Software-center crashing could be related, as they both use the
same package indexes and same library, however I see no relation to Gnome
Terminal. In most cases, separate application crashes should be reported in
Adam: is it a recoverable hang, meaning the session is restored after a
while? I've seen that happen once on my T420s..

I removed the graphics driver $ sudo apt-get purge nvidia*

I have to recompile xorg-server on ubuntu because of this patch. It may

Well I think it is clearly an important issue, even if only some
machines overheat to failure, almost all mobile machines with nvidia

I did not observe any suspend but when I start a sound check I observe a
flickering of the control bar of the screen. It seems to me that the
output of the sound is not directed to the speaker but to the screen.

I just did a fresh install of elementary OS on my desktop PC. Now I have the
same issue.
I had eOS installed a few days ago, and everything worked normally. Before I
reinstalled, I had Xubuntu 12.10, where everything worked aswell.
My laptop also works flawlessly and is running eOS aswell.
