Yea, this is quite confusing. I've seen it on a few websites now, no
idea what it is or why I would or wouldn't want it. I'm sure something
like this won't ship with final (right!!?) but hopefully it gets

want.
As part of a clean desktop, we shouldn't have ugly icons that people
don't really use. Those icons were hidden until 11.10. If I remember
right, the .desktops weren't shipped before then.
