I just checked the console (Ctrl + Alt +F1) and the keyboard layout
there is fine so it seems that only the GUI is affected. Also the
settings in /etc/default/keyboard confirm this.

When I open Vinagre, my client is showed in the list of the near host,
and I can connect to my same PC! I see in the window on right my desktop
and the vinagre window, and inside other desktop and other vinagre

About the renaming issue, I wouldn't call it a bug, at least not in the code,
it's more like just a case that needs handling, the ftp protocol it self - i
think- doesn't check if the destination file exists or not, it's the ftp
client's job to make sure that the file doesn't exist before
