logins. It scrambles the the screen for about 5 secs before desktop comes up

When hovering the mouse on my connected contacts list, a wondiw appears
with more details. Oddly, the text is missing in this pop-up window, ony
the icons are visible.

Thank you for your bug report, I guess you meant "gvfs" rather than -dbg
(the debug symbols)? No, that's not a good idea, gvfs-fuse is an issue
on some system and not strictly needed, we do install it by default but
let users free to uninstall it. Note that you don't need fuse to access
smb shares,

Rocko, could you run nautilus --quit; nautilus and see if any error is
printed while trying to add or remove a bookmark? are you sure the
permissions on .gtk-bookmarks are correct?
