On the contrary, why isn't it a good thing having a trash folder,
instead of immediate delete? If you consider the trash folder for your
main drive is good, why not for a usb drive as well? Behaviour should
be consistent, so that's it's easier to learn, easier to predict.

shouldn't it rather just delete files? After all- after i copy files on
usbstick, when the "copying files" dialog is gone- i expect them to be copied;
I see no reason why I should "eject" that stick.

no, it doesn't. and even if it would- i'd still consider it as a "bug"
(well... like "paper-cut-like bug" not like something critical)- under
other operating system (i'm thinking about MS's product) there is
(usually) no need to unmount it /i.e. they mounts usb drives with 'sync'
option- at least a
