I had exactly the same problem. I believe the problem stems from having
the deja-dup folder in a subdirectory as the error being thrown out was:
UDFs can not be nested.

I see the error as well. I have just deleted all previous deja dup files
from ~ folder and from Ubuntu one. Then I get this error:

I just launched a backup to see what's going on and for me the error is

settings (backup home, exclude Downloads and Wastebasket, using fairly
