As this problem is going to be resolved, we should s
XI2 already sends 32-bit keycodes, it's the XKB layer and thus the
ability to interpret this that doesn't handle them.

This issue blocks me to enjoy my new keyboard which has ZOOMIN/OUT and
SPELLCHECK keys.
