Windows calls it the "Task Bar". MacOS calls it the "Dock". Why not call
it the "Dash"?

Dock is kind of the right word. The feature is called the "Ubuntu Dock".
It's only in non-Ubuntu systems that it's called the Dash (by upstream
Gnome Shell).
I don't think there's anything to fix here. In Ubuntu it is "Dock" and
in upstream Gnome documentation it is the "Dash". They're actually
