Yes, the suggested packages should not be made dependencies or recommended packages (for Python 2 reasons). However the OP and comments raise the issue that as of now, on-demand installation of duplicity (or deja-dup-backend-gvfs) is only triggered when one opens the deja-dup-preferences GUI and c
