I get this behavior on Raring, 13.04.The pull down menus from any

I am suffering the same symptoms as woollypigs. Slow menu response, slow
rendering. Ubuntu 13.10 fully updated with GIMP 2.86.

I agree with wollypigs, this is not a dup of #1199877. I don't see the
CPU problem, but I see the slow menu issue ALL the time.

I also have this issue. The menus are annoyingly slow. It appears to
worsen depending on GIMP's workload. However, they may not be related.
I'm assuming it's the way GIMP allocates, or interacts, with syst

Hmm not sure : I don't get high CPU usage when waiting for the menu to
render.

Same situation here. I have a rather powerful PC: QuadCore 3.2 GHz, 8GB
Ram, Nvidia 1024 MB, 64bit system as well. The range goes from "3 second

the exact same issue and the menus take forever to load and about an

I also checked if it makes a difference if I'm editing a huge file or
something blank. It doesn't seem that way.

Same here, it starts fast, but it degrades over time until the system
becomes unusable and I have to restart. You can see trails of menus
opening if you click many times.

Menus are very slow to load
Status in “gimp” package in Ubuntu:
same here, too. Did an upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10 and all the menus are
very slow (gimp, libreoffice, etcetera). the ugly solution is to disable
the global menu stuff from unity.

Same here, on 13.10 64-bit. It worked great in 13.04, then I did a clean
install of Ubuntu 13.10, leaving only /home partition intact, and GIMP
has had these menu problems ever since.
