All code which do not support DRI2, were removed from Mesa.
Unfortunately openchrome did support only DRI1

This is an upstream problem, see http://mesa3d.sourceforge.net/systems.html
Openchrome dri driver in on the list of removed drivers from mesa distribution.
Same problems applies to all Linux Distributions that have more recent mesa
libs.
I ran into the same problem, as 50% if my thin clients here
