In your case, I think it has to do with the fact that POS_FIX_COMBO was
removed from the kernel by default. It was removed in kernel 3.7 and I
don't know the details why.

I'll try fix=4 as soon as I can...
Btw there was already a fixed bug in launchpad some months ago about this
particular bug,
it was present especially on machine with Intel gma500.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to find the # of the bug report.
I believe that some patches to fix this bug
You can also try "options snd-hda-intel position_fix=4" to see if that
works better than position_fix=1.

If you can confirm that both playback and recording works fine with
"options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1", I can submit a kernel patch to
make this the default for your particular machine.
