I haven't had any problems with wireless for a while now... I think things just
started working after a upgrade a bit after I posted this bug. I can't remember
when exactly it was (maybe a couple of months).
So if you're having problems, I suggest you open a new bug...

Wireless not
This same problem recently began happening to me on an Aspire One D270
running Ubuntu 12.04. The wireless was working fine, and then I ran a
software update, and now wireless is completely hosed. (Another reason
why I rarely run software updates...they tend to break more things then
they fix).

I was plugged in when trying, not on battery, and it can be seen from
lspci that power management is/was off ... (power supply state doesn't
change this). It should work regardless, a netbook with no working
wireless when on battery wouldn't be really useful :)

If there are MIC failures, it's likely that it's instead a bug in the
kernel driver used. But just to be sure...
Are you on battery when you try to connect? Is the behavior the same if
the power supply is connected (e.g. can you successfully connect then?)
