I can confirm this in Quantal with LO 3.6.1 and that is has cleared with
the upgrade to 3.6.2.2. Needed a dist-upgrade.

Sorry for the noise, Adam and Kevin are right. Selecting text did work
with a single strike with the touchpad but that's it. If you lift your
finger to select more text the current selection is gone.

Yes, it's still broken for me as well. And don't bother upgrading to the
packages from proposed, because even though -this- bug is fixed there,
many worse bugs are introduced; especially for non-Unity users.

For what is worth, I was having this problem but now with libreoffice-
writer 1:3.6.1~rc2-1ubuntu5 I can't seem to be be able to reproduce it
anymore.

This should be a high importance bug. Basic functionalities like these
may not be broken, and the Quantal release isn't that far away anymore.
As of today, it is still not working with the latest packages from the
repositories.
