I hate to be a bummer here but I just installed LibreOffice 4.1.1 from
the ppa and I still have this issue. My understanding is that the
extension is no longer used and this capability is included by default.
At this point I have restalled my system several times since the bug was

I just tested it in LibreOffice 4.0 and both documents import fine, with

Yes, according to
https://wiki.docume
I forgot about the Launchpad bug, that is where I started all this. I
will follow up there to try getting the Ubuntu specific version fixed.
Thanks for your help.

Ok, so I have confirmed that this issue does not exist in the generic
linux version of LibreOffice but is still present in the LibreOffice
4.0.1 availiable in the PPA. Not sure how to this gets fixed for the
Ubuntu community at large as the problem has been resolved upstream but
persists in the Ubu
To clarify, the openoffice PDFImport extension (manually downloaded
version: 1.0.4) can be installed directly through the Extension Manager
(no need to first install the LibreOffice PDFImport and then manually
replace the files in /usr/lib/libreoffice/share/extensions/pdfimport).

You should try with the generic Linux version from LibreOffice web site.
I guess that the problem is only in your distribution flavors of
LibreOffice.

Confirmed the fix from #11 above works. In summary, this seems to be a
regression and replacing the contents with the openoffice extension
(modify date of 2010-12-14 on that one) solves it. I'll add the same
comment to the LO bug report.
