I hate to be a bummer here but I just installed LibreOffice 4.1.1 from the ppa and I still have this issue. My understanding is that the extension is no longer used and this capability is included by default. At this point I have restalled my system several times since the bug was reported, curren

So I made a test pdf which had enlightening results. The import process appears to work for text, it is the images that fail to show.
