Confirm the same problem on 16.04 LTS
The random characters do not work for me.
It's a customer's VPN so I cannot insist on changes being make to fit me. The
configuration works fine when using he command line "openvpn --config

Gwibber is currently showing messages from Facebook, so it is working.
So I went to the Accounts page and its still showing an "Authorize"
button for my Facebook account, unlike my Twitter account which
indicates that it has been authorised.

I have found that even though it shows that it didn't authenticate, it
actually did. Open Gwibber to see if it shows Facebook updates, or
update your status in Gwibber and see if it appears in Facebook.

When I try to add my Facebook account, Gwibber gets stuck on
"verifying...". When I stop it, no Facebook entry was created. On my
third try the Facebook account was created, but it still requires
authorisation. When I click on "Authorise" it gets stuck on
