The following headsets were tested on Lenovo ThinkPad X240 (CID 201307-14019)

could reproduce this bug.
They are[1]:
OMTP: Nokia WH-102 HS125
CTIA: SONY MH-EX300AP, Samsung (unknown model), HTC (unknown model)
[1] It is hard to know which type the headset is because there is no model
label
in comment 2,
internal mic and speaker and external speaker (e.g. headphone) works
with fresh installation 14.04.1 and updated 14.04.1 (kernel 3.13.0-44)
only the external mic malfunctions.
