I'm having a similar-but-not-same problem with a Yoga Pro 7 14IMH9
Cannot control volume except mute or full blast, unless I go in
alsamixer and change the "Pre Mixer Analog" or "Post Mixer Analog"
volume controls.

I can't actually play gnome Sudoku on my pc since upgrading to oneiric,
because the lack of visible grid makes it too difficult to see the
relationships between the figures. Could we at least have an option to
make the grid/background darker, please?
