It turned out that the combination of blender / pulseaudio and the log-
level of pulseaudio was the problem. When I open Blender then suspend
the machine and resume again, the above error immediately fills the
logfile with tons of data. The problem persist until blender is stopped.

Early indications here are that updating the ALSA drivers fixes the
problem. I've usually noticed the problem when coming in to work and the
machine has been suspended, I did that whole thing now and reconnected
external display + headphones and I got proper sound. Seems promising.

I don't think that's an issue with unclutter.
unclutter is only involved if the cursor vanishes after the mouse isn't
moved for a few seconds or if a key is pressed.
