Writer 4.2.3 on Windows XP. I can post a screen shot, if necessary.

I'm having this same problem with Banshee. I'm running the 64-bit
version of Ubuntu 13.04. Thanks to Jacob Peddicord! I followed his
suggestion in comment #6 above and was able to get Banshee to start.
Apparently, for me the Karaoke plugin caused Banshee not to start
properly.

I just ran into this problem trying to mount a SD card. ALL of my
filesystems, except for one, are ext3. One is ext4. My root filesystem
is ext3.
So, two of the above workarounds look better to me than manually
creating /media/$USER. Which would be best:
A) Adding 'tmpfs/media tmpfs

When opening a Word 2007/2010 document in "DOCX" format, the words
"[TYPE TEXT]" appear in the header of the pages of the document. I
expect LibreOffice Writer to display the document the same way Microsoft
Word displays the document.
