Hi, I am running into an error and much googling has led me to close-
but-not-quite solutions (including related one linked at bottom).
Specifically, I am unable to open Ubuntu Settings either via the GUI or
command line. When I run the command line, I get this error:
$ gnome

While remote connection is enabled for chrome-remote-desktop
There are environment variables for GUI login session. Such as:
CHROME_REMOTE_DESKTOP_SESSION=1
CHROME_USER_DATA_DIR=/home/vagrant/.config/chrome-remote-desktop/chrome-profile

I found that this issue could also be triggered by chrome-remote-desktop
After uninstall chrome-remote-desktop, this issue is gone.
(In fact, disable remote connections also helps. Not necessary uninstall
chrome-remote-desktop.)

I thought I have made a very clear bug report. Please do read it. The
problem is with CUSTOM ANIMATION not SLIDE TRANSITION. I referred to
APERT as just an example, please sample other sounds also.
Note: I have tried example.odp. You did not use CUSTOM ANIMATION but use
SLIDE TRANSITION instead. C
I still get the same error, even on Firefox 9.0.1, but no problem
printing from Google Chrome (which prints to a pdf file and then prints
the pdf). No problem printing from any other program on my Ubuntu
11.04. My Brother HL-5250DN usually prints the first page from Firefox
