I came across this problem with LibreOffice, and the error I receive is
identical, except for the error number (31 in my case). Happy to

Cannot log
I've marked #964607 as a duplicate. I believe that the problem lies in
/var/lib/AccountsService/users/ file.
I had this line:
XSession=xsession
I noticed that a new user had
XSession=ubuntu
I changed mine to read "ubuntu", rebooted, and was fine.

lightdm doesn't load unity sessions
I'm seeing the same on Beta 2, having just upgraded from Precise.
Main account "mike" cycles back to lightdm greeter.
Guest account is fine.
Created a new account (logged in as root from the console), which was also fine.
Able to log in from console as "mike".
