Confirmed, after adding the nvidia-drm.modeset=1 to the GRUB file it
worked. I tested 3 cases:
1. Reboot without Log out afterwards.
2. Reboot with a Log out afterwards and then try to log in again.
3. Reboot with a Log out afterwards, try to log in again and then reboot.
It worked for all cases.
This is exactly what is happening to me. I installed Ubuntu 20.04 today
(The official released version, not beta), and if I set the auto login
on, it will give me the same issue the original poster said. You can't

with the Nvidia driver once going to the 4.15 kernel version. So today I
received the Intel microcode updates + Nvidia 390 which is compatible

OMG this is my problem. 2 days working on what in the world was
happening because the screen went black. Digging and digging until
finally I realized nvidia 331 was installing bumblebee and primus (What
in the world?) to my computer which only has one video card, the Nvidia
440 GT on the PCI Expres
Using 12.10 and 13.04, I tried what Scott O'Nanski just mentioned. Using
guvcview (or any other webcam software) other than cheese works
perfectly on several types of webcams. Juts tested an HP 1080p camera
and a Genius one. Both work perfect. But if I use cheese with them,
everything looks lagged.
Am with Geraldo on this one. Whoever took the decision really needs to
study more about decision making and user friendliness.

No overheating on my part. I have tested the 560 ti with the HDMI cable,
with a DVI cable and with a DVI-VGA. All cases have same problem.

Testing Kernel 3.6 from here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v3.6-quantal/ and it has been at least 10 hours with no
problems. With Kernel 3.5.x the problem appeared at least every 2 to 3
hours. Sometimes almost 4 hours.
Will keep checking.

On 12.04.1 32 Bit and 64 Bit using Empathy 3.4.2.3 the option for
Desktop Sharing is grayed out. After around June it stopped working. All
other options work correctly like Video call, Audio call and even
Transfering files but Desktop Sharing does not.
There is no error outpu
Confirmed on 12.04 even after all updates. In my case is just easy to
test it. There are 2 ways, one happens always, the other one happens in
some cases:
Rare Nautilus Case (This happens rarely):
1. Go to nautilus and copy any file/folde you want.
2. Right click on an empty space and see that th
No is not hidden. In any case the problem has been fixed updating to the
latest packages. Tested several times and eerything is working correctly
again. Thank you.
