We migrated all the computers to Lubuntu (Ubuntu + LXDE) 16.04 64 bit.

I confirm (that for me) the problem is proxy.pac related.
Up to now, I denied the access to www.mysite.com/proxy.pac for when
users are outside, with their netbooks.
My Apache .htaccess looked like:

This worked for Chromium+IcedTea

It works. I did'nt need to modify grub. And the trick is only necessary
when xorg fails at startup.
