Here is what happens as seen by pulseaudio - during the monitor
sleep/wake cycle leading to disappearance of the HDMI output:

Affected by this bug, but not exactly bug #1888598.
Config: Asus Extreme Omega integrated HDA Intel PCH as Card 1 + ASUS Nvidia
3090 as Card 2.
Card 0 is an USB webcam and only an audio input.
