As per rich, killing remmina in the background and re-running allows it
to find an rdp .so installed after remmina's first run. A reboot should
also fix this (I think).

As a work-around for anyone else affected, I found that adding the
following code to /etc/profile after the initial comments fixed it. I
got this from the askubuntu article but had to add an addition /sbin to
the user (non-root) path (else clause).

I suddenly got this bug after an update; my primary user login does NOT
work. I can log in on a text alternate console; or as Guest.
What is interesting is I have NO user customizations to any ~/.bash*
files; so the critique above does NOT apply to me.
.xsession looks like this:

This bug still affects me on 11/2513 with the latest patches on a fresh,
bog-standard 13.10 install. At best I get a picture of the HUD.

Restarting nm-applet workaround either doesn't display nm-applet or
brings it back with VPN still missing. Command line instructions at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VPNClient do not work for 12.04. This
renders 12.04 pretty much useless in our environment.

After login, at first laptop and HDMI/DVI mounted 1920x1200 monitor
display correct resolution with different desktops (gnome primary on
laptop). After several minutes of use, resolution suddenly changes to
1024x768 and both displays have the same image.

This was a fresh install. I split the Windows 7 partition on the new
laptop a few months ago, and installed 11.04 from DVD. System is up-to-
date on updates.
