Hi, After searching half a day for a solution to the black screen of death issue, I finally ended up at this thread. I am happy to report the problem on Lenovo T61 with Intel 965GM graphic card on a Ubuntu 14.04 LTS is fixed by following Jamie's steps listed in comment #99. It does need an update
